What is MEA Apostille Attestation?
Apostille — Not Embassy Attestation
For countries that are members of
the Hague Convention of 1961,
there is NO requirement for Embassy or Consulate attestation. Instead, the Ministry
of External Affairs (MEA) of India directly issues an Apostille stamp — a universally accepted
sticker/stamp that makes your Indian document legally valid in all 120+ member
nations without any further Embassy verification.
Why Apostille is Sufficient.
Under the Hague
Convention, member nations mutually recognize the Apostille certificate as
proof of document authenticity. No Embassy stamp is needed — the MEA Apostille
alone is the final and complete authentication accepted by all government
offices, courts, universities, and employers in Apostille countries.
Without Apostille
Your Indian degree
certificates, marriage certificates, birth certificates, or business documents
will be rejected by Apostille-country authorities. No Apostille = no legal
validity abroad, regardless of how genuine the document is.

Notary & State-Level Attestation
Your documents are
first attested by a certified Notary Public — the foundational verification
step. This is followed by state-level authentication: SDM (Sub-Divisional
Magistrate) for the fast route, or HRD / Home Department if specifically
required by your employer, university, or visa authority abroad.
SDM attestation is
legally equivalent to HRD/Home Department and fully accepted by MEA for
Apostille.
We submit your
documents to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), which applies the official
Apostille sticker and stamp. This is the FINAL and ONLY step required for Hague
Convention countries — no Embassy attestation is needed after this. The MEA
Apostille is recognized directly by all 120+ member nations' government
offices, courts, universities, and employers.
