What Indian documents need for China
Short answer: China is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention (member since 7 November 2023). Indian documents for China need state attestation and then an MEA apostille. No embassy attestation is needed.
Until November 2023, Indian documents for China needed MEA attestation and then legalisation by the Chinese Embassy. That changed when China joined the Apostille Convention: an MEA apostille is now enough, and the embassy step is no longer needed. Chinese authorities may still ask for a certified translation into Chinese.
